Kirkman's Buffered Vitamin C Unflavored Powder offers 1100 mg (1.1 gm) in each recommend serving size of ¼ teaspoon.  This is a hypoallergenic formulation, which is easy to administer and has little to no taste when dissolved in liquids..

This product is part of our Bio-Max Series that uses forms of nutrients that have clinically proven to be among the best absorbed and most highly bioavailable.  Included in the formulation are sodium, potassium and magnesium ascorbates, which produce a buffered, acid balanced product that is very gentle on the stomach because the normal high acidity of ascorbic acid is counteracted by the ascorbates.

Vitamin C is one of the most popular vitamin supplement in the United States. The human body does not manufacture its own vitamin C, therefore dietary sources and supplementation must be relied to augment what the body needs.

Vitamin C is required for the biosynthesis of collagen, L-carnitine, and certain neurotransmitters; vitamin C is also involved in protein metabolism1,2. Collagen is an essential component of connective tissue, which plays a vital role in tissue healing. Vitamin C is also a nutrient with important physiological antioxidant activity3 and has been shown to regenerate other the activity of other antioxidants within the body, including alpha-tocopherol (vitamin E)4. Ongoing research is examining whether vitamin C, by limiting the damaging effects of free radicals through its antioxidant activity can help in more serious chronic conditions.

In addition to its biosynthetic and antioxidant activity functions, vitamin C plays an important role in the immune system4 and improves the absorption of nonheme iron5, the form of iron present in plant-based foods.
